Morning Series 20.
Morning Series Favorites. Was looking through some of my photos and wanted to highlight these. They’re some of the best from my ongoing morning series.
The Morning Series is about waking up early on the weekend and exploring specific areas of NYC or specific spots of which ever city I’m in. Perhaps before the rest of the city has a chance to wake up. It allows me to slow down in a city that normally moves so fast. I was interested in the changing light and how impressionist painters would paint the same scene at different times of day. Of course this play with light is also essential to photography. I often think of the relationships between photography and painting.
Water Tower 5. These water towers are actually used and are still made today. They only look so old because they are made of wood that isn’t painted or chemically treated.
Art walk along Park Ave.
Recently took a walk down Park Ave. to look at the new art that was installed. The art was by a Cuban artist Alexandre Arrechea, he says that he wants to establish a link between architecture and human nature. Each sculpture was a replica of an iconic building in NYC.
I enjoyed taking photos of the sculptures, it gave me a new skyline to play with.
